"Tax and Accounting Implications for Nonprofits"

There has never been a more important time for nonprofits to ensure integrity with regarding to financial and accounting practices.  This AFP Food For Thought Session will provide an overview about important nonprofit considerations for ensuring good financial oversight:  compliance and appropriate best practices is important for audit, 990 preparation and filing, providing expense allocations, non-profit financial statements and the new FASB rules for Financial Reporting (2019 implementation), internal controls, the difference between a contractor and employee, nonprofit raffles and determining “fair market value” of fundraising events as opposed to charitable contribution of a sponsorship or ticket to a special event, donor stewardship are important nonprofit considerations for ensuring good financial oversight.  Executive Directors, Development Directors, Board Finance Chairs, and Accounting staff are encouraged to attend.


Scott Nuttall has been with Vero Beach’s Kmetz, Nuttall, Elwell, Graham, PLLC since 1990 and currently serves as Managing Partner. His auditing and accounting experience includes construction, developers, real estate, homeowners’ associations, recreational and social clubs, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations. Scott is responsible for the quality control of all audits conducted by the firm. His involvement ensures that all clients’ concerns are addressed and that all audits meet the requirements of the accounting professional standards. Scott holds a B.S. in accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  Scott’s Professional Recognitions and Past/Present Affiliations include:  Certified Public Accountant, Florida; Certified Financial Planner (CFP); Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA); American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA); Treasurer, Condominium and Homeowners’ Association of Indian River, Inc.
